Now that you've built a working application, let's talk about how to organize your code. A well-organized project is easier to understand, debug, and expand. This is a crucial skill for working on larger projects or with a team.
Separation of Concerns
This is a core principle of software engineering. It means that different parts of your code should be responsible for different things. In our task manager app, we can separate:
- HTML (Structure): Defines the elements on the page.
- CSS (Presentation): Defines how the elements look.
- JavaScript (Logic): Defines how the elements behave.
We've already done this by using separate .html, .css, and .js files.
Modular Code: Functions and Files
As your JavaScript file grows, it can become a single, massive block of code. We can organize it by breaking it into smaller, reusable functions. For example, in our task manager, we could have:

Your Turn: Refactor the Task Manager
Go back to the task manager project you built. Your goal is to refactor it for better organization.
- Make sure your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript are in separate files.
- In your

- Check your variable names. Are they all clear and descriptive?
